Your City Hall spent all week watching the sky
Good morning from the coulees — the wind's up, the sky's wide, and Lethbridge has something to say.
Look, this past week, City Hall was mostly looking up, not inward. It was a week dominated by what the weather was doing, and what it was threatening to do across this land, this *Napi's Garden*.
We saw a series of warnings from Environment Canada, starting mid-week, telling us to brace for some significant weather. It wasn't just a bit of wind, mind you; we were talking blizzards and real winter conditions, even as spring tries to find its footing.
* City officials were putting out advisories.
* The focus was on public safety.
* Discussions shifted from usual civic matters to emergency preparedness.
When the sky gets real interesting, like it did this week, everything else takes a backseat. It's a reminder that out here, the land and the weather still run a good part of the show.
That's the word from City Hall, where the folks spent more time looking out the windows than at spreadsheets.
