This week, we saw some big money permits getting approved, but nothing quite like the one for 56 Inglewood Drive in Ward 1. We're talking about a permit for a *single-storey detached dwelling* — that’s a house, for us regular folks — valued at a cool $1,910,124. This isn't just a renovation; it's a brand-new build. For context, we also had a commercial permit for Co-Operators Insurance on Standish Court for interior alterations and a structural beam on the 7th and 8th floors, valued at $1,916,140. So, someone’s house in Ward 1 is almost as expensive as a major commercial office overhaul.

It just goes to show you where some of the serious investment is happening in this city. While most of us are happy with a new shed, some people are building structures that could practically be small office towers. The real story is never on the Hill — it’s always just off it.
