Your Beacon Hill ice cream just got two new bike licenses

Your new ice cream delivery service is already here

Good morning from the island — we're still here, the orcas were spotted at Active Pass, and honestly, life is fine.

Well, here's the thing. You might have noticed a new kind of bicycle making its rounds near Beacon Hill Park, perhaps with a little bell tinkling. That's Hazel's Ice Cream, a mobile vendor, according to the new business licenses issued by the city. It seems they've secured not one, but two licenses for their bicycle operation – license numbers 40784 and 40447. One might wonder why two licenses for the same mobile business, but perhaps they're planning for expansion, or maybe a very enthusiastic second bicycle? One does hope they navigate the deer in James Bay with care.

This points to a small but telling shift, doesn't it? Our city is not just about the brick-and-mortar anymore. We're seeing more of these nimble, adaptable businesses, perfectly suited to our compact downtown core. It’s a quiet sign that Victoria is figuring out new ways to serve its residents, one bicycle and one scoop at a time. Keep an eye out for them as you wander through the Inner Harbour this week.
