Your councillors got gifts. Find out what Gillingham's dragon means.

Here’s what your city hall has been up to, hey

Winterpeg. We built a city in the coldest place anyone has any business building a city — and it is genuinely wonderful. Good morning.

Alright, let's talk about what's happening downtown, you know? The latest from City Hall shows a bit of a mixed bag, with some important stuff coming up and some interesting details on what our council members are getting.

First off, it looks like there are five regular meetings scheduled for October 1st and 2nd. That’s a lot of agenda items to get through, and it always makes you wonder what big decisions are coming down the pipe that could affect everything from our Transit routes to the art scene in the Exchange. We'll be keeping an eye on those to see what's on the table.

Then there's the gifts. Our councillors are getting a few nice things, hey. Emma Durand-Wood received a "WAG tote bag, art book & museum admission vouchers" from the Winnipeg Art Gallery, which is pretty neat. And Mayor Scott Gillingham was honoured with a "Plaque with blown glass dragon" from the Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre, for being named Golden Dragon Citizen of the Year. It’s good to see our leaders being recognized, and it shows the connections they have with the vibrant communities that make this city so special.

It’s all part of the daily hum of keeping this big, beautiful city running. We'll be watching those October meetings closely to see what new stories emerge from the heart of our community.
