Good morning from the Valley — the fields are talking, the rivers are moving, and we've got stories from five communities that matter. Today, for The Buzz, we're talking about something that hits close to home for everyone out here, especially with the sun beating down and the blueberry fields getting ready to burst. Metro Vancouver is already looking at Stage 3 water restrictions by June. Now, you might be thinking, "Harpreet, that's Vancouver, not the Sumas Prairie," but trust me, it matters to us more than you think.

This isn't just about sprinklers and car washes. This is about the very real fact that we share this watershed. When folks in the city are told to cut back, it highlights the pressure on our shared resources, and honestly, sometimes it feels like they forget where a lot of their food, and by extension, their water, actually comes from. Our farmers out here in Abbotsford, from the strawberry patches near Clearbrook to the dairy farms along the Fraser River, are deeply reliant on stable water levels. We’re still rebuilding from the 2021 floods, still talking about the water, still figuring out how to protect our land and our livelihoods.

We feed them in the city, and we need the water to do it. This isn't just a Vancouver problem; it's a Valley reality check. We've got to protect our water like it's gold, because out here, it practically is.
