The Arizona Cardinals just went shopping and we need to talk

SHARE

Okay, okay, deep breath, *mi gente*. I know, I know, the Arizona Cardinals are making moves, and from Maryvale to Glendale, everyone’s got an *opinión*. Devin Duvernay? Teagan Quitoriano? It’s not the earth-shattering, *puro fuego* splash some of us were hoping for, I’m not gonna lie. It tells me, *claro que sí*, that Monti Ossenfort and Coach Gannon are in the long game, not just throwing money around like confetti at a Quinceañera. These are depth signings, filling out the roster, giving Kyler Murray more options. You see it, right? It’s about building foundational pieces, adding competition, getting those special teams looking sharp with Duvernay. It’s not "all-in" like they’re chasing a Super Bowl *mañana*, but it’s definitely not a full tear-down rebuild either. It’s... measured. Which, for us Arizona Cardinals fans, is a different kind of feeling, *¿verdad*?

Now, excitement? Anger? Honestly, for us in Phoenix, these moves are more like a shrug. It’s not the big name that makes you jump up from your carne asada burrito at Filiberto's on West McDowell. But hey, any tight end is a good tight end when you’re talking about Teagan Quitoriano, and Duvernay brings that electric return game, which we absolutely need. What the roster still screams for, *¡por favor!*, is more pass rush. We need a disruptive force that makes opposing quarterbacks have nightmares. And a lockdown corner, *no me digas que no*. You can never have enough of those. I’m still hoping for a big move on the defensive line, someone who can crash through the line like a monsoon hitting the Valley.

So, what does this do for my expectations? *Ay, Dios mío*, you know me. I’m always gonna find the silver lining. These moves won’t suddenly make us Super Bowl contenders, I’m not deluding myself. But they raise the floor, they add versatility, and they show a commitment to improving the margins. It means Kyler will have more targets, and that’s always a good thing. I’m still believing for more wins, a stronger showing in the NFC West. We’re not done yet, not by a long shot. From Maryvale to State Farm Stadium — rojo siempre, and don’t bet against us.

My girl Maria and the crew are talking about this every morning. Don't miss it, live at mornings.live.
