Look— you see this science thing about the fellas' "on switch" for sperm? They're talkin' about this like it's gonna change birth control forever. And yeah, maybe it will. But here's the thing about Boston, right? We got a lot of smart people here, wicked smart. Hahvahd, MIT, all that. They're probably already in a lab somewhere in Cambridge, elbow-deep in this, tryin' to figure out how to make it into a pill you can get at the CVS down by the Garden. But you know what else we got? We got families, generations deep, who are gonna look at this and go, "Alright, but what does this *really* mean for my kid gettin' into BC, or for the cost of a triple-decker out in Dorchester?" It's always about the future, but it's always about *our* future, here in the city.

I'm just sayin', all these big science breakthroughs, they always sound good on paper. But when it hits the streets, when it hits the kitchen tables in Southie or the diners in Fields Corner, that's when you see if it's really gonna make a difference. We're a city that loves progress, don't get me wrong. We built the Big Dig, for Chrissakes, and hated every goddamn minute of it until it was done. So yeah, I'm watchin' this one. I'm just sayin', hope it works out better than tryin' to get on the Red Line at Park Street at 5 PM.
