Regina MLAs finally get a proper washroom after 114 years. Seriously?

Your Regina MLAs finally got their own washroom

Alright, *tansi* Regina, you are not going to believe this one, eh? My *kohkom* always said if you don't laugh, you'll cry, and this one's got me doing a bit of both. We're talking about the Saskatchewan Legislature, that big beautiful building down by Wascana Lake, where our elected officials make all the big decisions for the province. You know the one, eh, where everyone takes their graduation photos? Well, for 114 years — yeah, you heard me, *one hundred and fourteen years* — the women working there, the actual MLAs, have been making do with pretty much nothing.

Turns out, until now, there was just one measly, one-stall washroom for all the female MLAs, and that was it. Can you even imagine? It's like something out of a bad joke, except it's our reality here in the Queen City. NDP MLA Kim Breckner, bless her heart, brought it up because she had her baby, Ian, back in December, and was trying to manage everything with a tiny little washroom. It's not just about privacy, it's about basic human dignity and practicality when you're working long days, or trying to pump, or just, you know, exist.

### What This Means for Regina

This isn't just a "women's issue," eh. This is about what we prioritize, even in the halls of power right here on Legislative Drive.

* **About Time:** For over a century, the men had their dedicated facilities, and the women, who've been serving the province for decades, were an afterthought.

* **Modernizing the Prairies:** It’s a small change, but it speaks volumes about how slowly some things move, even in our own government.

* **Real Impact:** Think about all the women who’ve served there, from pioneers to present-day leaders. This isn't just a washroom, it's a statement about valuing *all* our representatives.

This is Regina — yeah, we know what it sounds like, and we've heard your joke. Now sit down and listen. This is about making sure our institutions reflect the people they serve, and sometimes that means starting with something as fundamental as a dedicated washroom. It's a small victory, but one that took way, way too long. Oh for sure.
