Buffalo Sabres Game Recap: BUF 5, SJS 0

Your Buffalo Sabres are making it look easy now.

So, for those of you who passed out before the third period or, God forbid, missed it entirely — Buffalo Sabres beat the San Jose Sharks 5-0 last night. Yeah, a shutout. We had three goals in under two minutes in the second period, just blink and you missed it. Tyson Ostlund got us on the board, then Sam Carrick with his first, Rasmus Dahlin quickly after that. Then in the third, Tage Thompson with a quick one to start the period, and Sam Carrick again for his second of the night. It was a shooting gallery, even if the shots on goal were a little closer than you'd expect for a five-goal game. The boys just kept finding the net. It's the kind of game where you don't even have to yell at the TV, just nod your head and think, 'Yeah, that's what we're supposed to do.'

This isn't just a win, it's a statement. Buffalo Sabres are now 43-20-6, first in the Atlantic, and looking real good with nine wins in our last ten. That kind of consistency, especially on the road, it tells you something. We’re in the driver’s seat now. You can feel it all the way from Lake Erie down to the Outer Harbor — people are actually talking about the Sabres again without a sigh at the end of the sentence. This is the kind of momentum you need heading into the back half of the season, especially with some big games coming up. Keeps Toronto quiet for a minute, too, which is always nice.

Let's Go Buff-a-lo — from the City of Good Neighbors, this is Peg.
