Your City Hall is pushing through big changes behind closed doors
Alright, Calgary, let's talk about what's actually happening down at City Hall, because our real-time monitors just flagged something that’s, well, pretty standard around here, but still worth a look. On March 10th, our City Council pushed through a few motions at a Strategic Meeting that really highlight how much business gets done behind closed doors.
Specifically, with Report C2026-0240, there were motions to adopt changes and direct that 'Confidential Attachment 2' be held confidential. Councillors Jennifer Wyness and Dan McLean voted "Yes" to these motions, which carried. But for real though, Councillors Landon Johnston voted "No" on two of those motions to keep things confidential, which just tells you there's a conversation happening that not everyone’s thrilled to cap off. It's not unusual for Council to move into closed meetings, especially under Section 29 of the Access to Information Act for "Advice from officials," but it’s always good to keep an eye on what's being discussed when the public isn't allowed to listen in. We'll be keeping our ear to the ground to see if any details from that "Confidential Attachment 2" ever see the light of day. This is Calgary — we've seen the boom, we've seen the bust, and we showed up anyway.
