Your Kings gave up a lead to the Flyers last night, dude
Man, what a night at Crypto. You blink, and everything changes. The Los Angeles Kings, like, really tried to hold it down against the Philadelphia Flyers, but we just couldn't seal the deal, dropping it 4-3 in a shootout. Quinton Byfield got us on the board in the first, looking strong, and then Anze Kopitar came in hot at the start of the second period. But the Flyers, they just kept coming. Travis Konecny and Noah Cates got 'em back in it, and then Travis Sanheim put them ahead. It felt like one of those gnarly 405 commutes, all stop and go, super frustrating. Big ups to Artem Panarin though, his power play goal in the third period sent it to overtime and kept us in the game, you know?
Honestly, watching Trevor Zegras score in the shootout? That just felt like a gut punch, especially after all the back-and-forth. The Kings outshot the Flyers 25-20, which is good, but it just wasn't enough to secure those two points. Our guys just looked a little flat after a hot start, letting Philly dictate the pace there for a while. We gotta tighten up those defensive lapses, 'cause giving up a lead like that after Kopitar’s goal, it’s just not the Kings hockey we know, and that's just facts, dude.
So, where does that leave our Los Angeles Kings? We're still sitting at 28-24-16, good for 72 points and holding onto that second wildcard spot in the West. But every point counts, especially with how tight the Pacific Division is. Losing that extra point to the Flyers in a shootout, it stings, especially when you think about how many times we've been in these close games. We gotta string together some wins, not just in regulation, but really close out games when we have the chance. The mood in Los Angeles this morning? A little like when you're waiting for your tacos at Guisados and someone cuts in line — annoying, but you know the next plate is gonna be fire. The Kings have to bring that fire.
Los Reyes. LA Kings hockey. I'm Gabi Vásquez — gnarly game, let's go Kings.
My homies on the morning show are definitely gonna break down all this drama, catch them live at mornings.live.
