You’re not gonna believe what happened last night in Ottawa
Not fuh nuttin’, but that was a real kick in the teeth watching the New York Islanders lose to the Ottawa Senators 3-2. You go to bed thinkin’ maybe, just maybe, they pull it off, and then you wake up to *that*. Matt Schaefer gets us on the board in the second period, a real nice shot from Ryan Pulock and Bo Horvat, gets us thinkin’ we got some momentum. Then the Senators get a short-handed goal from Shane Pinto, which, c’mon, that just *can’t* happen. Then Bo Schenn, God bless him, gives us the lead again in the third, but then *two* more from the Senators, including Brady Tkachuk puttin’ one in with literally seconds left. Nineteen shots? Are you kiddin’ me? My grandpappy used to say you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, but even the ones we did take weren’t enough.
The mood out here on Long Island, it’s not exactly sunny, you know? People are rollin’ out of bed, grabbing their cawfee at the Bagel Cafe, and just shakin’ their heads. This was a road game, sure, but these are the ones you gotta win, especially against a team lower in the standings. It means we stay at 83 points, still fourth in the Metropolitan, still clinging to that Wildcard spot. We’re 6-4-0 in our last ten, which isn’t terrible, but that L next to our name? That stings. It’s not just a point, it’s the *feeling* of a point lost right when you need it most.
We got more games comin’ up, gotta put this behind us. But you can’t help but feel like we let one slip away. It’s a long season, I know, but every single point matters when you’re fightin’ for your life in the standings like the New York Islanders are. I mean, not fuh nuttin’, but these are the kinda losses that make you wanna just go back to bed and pull the covers over your head.
Not fuh nuttin' — but we're the dynasty. See youse.
