Your New York Rangers laid an egg last night
Alright, listen up, because I'm still steamed from last night. Your New York Rangers came out flat, just absolutely flat, in a 6-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils right here at the Garden. It was a mess from the jump, even though Gavrikov got us on the board first, and Mika Zibanejad tried to spark somethin' early in the second. But the Devils, they just kept comin'. Nico Hischier on the power play, then Aleksandr Gritsyuk sneakin' one in late in the first, it set the tone. We were outshot 39 to 18! Thirty-nine to *eighteen*! That's not the New York Rangers hockey we expect, not after battlin' the West Side Highway traffic just to get in the building.
The key moments? Charlie Brown's power-play goal in the second, then Timo Meier and Jack Hughes puttin' it away in the third. Even Chris Kreider Sheary's goal in the third, tryin' to claw back, it was too little, too late. We gave 'em too many chances, especially on the man advantage, and they capitalized. That's what good teams do, and right now, the Devils looked like the better team last night. It's frustrating, plain and simple, like tryin' to find a good slice of pizza outside of John's of Bleecker Street.
Look, this hurts. We're still clingin' on, 8th in the Metro, but these kinda losses against a rival, at home, they sting. We're 6-3-1 in our last ten, so we know we can play, but we can't afford to drop these points like this. The mood in New York City this morning? Probably a lot of people feelin' the same way I am — disappointed, but still ready to scream for these guys next game. We gotta tighten it up, show some of that Broadway Blueshirts swagger, and get back to bein' the team that demands excellence. Potvin still sucks, but right now, we gotta focus on ourselves.
This is The March — from Madison Square Garden, the world's most famous arena. Let's go Rangers.
