Ottawa Senators Game Recap: OTT 1, WSH 4

Another one slipped away, eh?

Your Ottawa Senators were in D.C. last night, and honestly, for long stretches, they looked good. Thirty-five shots to the Washington Capitals' twenty-five, you’d think that means something, wouldn’t you? But the score, boys, that’s what counts. Alex Ovechkin got them on the board in the second, and then Tom Wilson doubled it up late in the period. Ottawa pushed hard in the third, and Tim Stützle finally got us on the board with under three minutes to go, from Claude Giroux and Thomas Chabot. You get a little hope there, eh? But then Alex Protas scored right after, and Connor Hutson put the final nail in the coffin on the power play. A 4-1 loss, and it just feels… familiar.

This one stings because we were playing decent hockey, eh? Six-two-and-two in our last ten, we had some momentum building. But a regulation loss against the Capitals, that doesn't help the cause at all. We're sitting sixth in the Atlantic, still Wildcard #4, but the teams behind us are just waiting for us to falter. You see the Sens jerseys heading down Bank Street this morning, and everyone’s got that look, like they ate a Shawarma Palace special with too much garlic sauce. It’s that familiar Ottawa dread, knowing what this team *could* be, and seeing them just... not quite there, eh?

Eleven-eleven, boys. Eleven-eleven.

The gang on the morning show is probably having a fit over this one, you should listen in at mornings.live.
