Did you even watch that Senators game last night, eh?
Well, if you went to bed early, you missed a wild one, b’y. The Ottawa Senators, they pulled out a 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders right here at home. It wasn’t exactly pretty, mind you. The Islanders got one from Matthew Schaefer in the second, but Shane Pinto, he tied it up short-handed, eh, and the crowd at Canadian Tire Centre just absolutely erupted. Then, in the third, Brad Schenn put the Islanders up again early, and I was thinking, ‘Here we go again, b’y, another one slipping away.’ But Will Foegele, he got us back in it, tying it up with a few minutes left, and then… then Brady Tkachuk, with thirty seconds left, he sniped one. The place just about blew the roof off. I nearly spilled my Shawarma Palace take-out.
That win, b’y, it feels different. The Ottawa Senators, they didn’t dominate on the shot clock — 19 to 26 for the Islanders, can you believe that? But they found a way. Shane Pinto’s shorty, that was just pure grit, and Brady Tkachuk’s game-winner, that’s the kind of play you need from your captain when the clock’s ticking down. These kids, they’re showing some real resilience. You can feel it in the city this morning; there’s a little more bounce in everyone’s step. It’s a good feeling, a proper Ottawa morning, you know?
What does it all mean? Well, the Ottawa Senators are sitting at 35-24-9 now, 79 points, eh? Still 6th in the Atlantic, but Wildcard #4 is looking a bit better. More importantly, they’re 7-2-1 in their last ten, and they’ve strung together another win. This team is finding ways to grind out points, and in this league, that’s all that matters, b’y. There’s a belief growing, eh? A real belief that this team can actually make some noise.
Eleven-eleven, boys. Eleven-eleven.
