That one stings you right in the gut, don't it?
Yinz probably woke up this morning, checked your phone, and saw that 6-5 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, and thought, "What in the Sam Hill happened last night?" Well, let me tell ya, it was a wild one. The Pittsburgh Penguins played a game that felt like a rollercoaster on Kennywood's Jack Rabbit, especially in that third period. We were down, then up, then down again, then we tie it with two quick ones from Erik Karlsson and Bobby Kindel. Sidney Crosby got us on the board in the second, and Bryan Rust added one too. But then, to lose it in overtime after battling back like that? It's a tough pill to swallow, especially with the Hurricanes getting that shorthanded goal early and outshooting us 44-35.
Erik Karlsson, he had himself a night with two goals, including that power play marker. You gotta give him credit for stepping up when we needed offense. And Sid, well, he’s Sid. He always finds a way. But letting them get those late goals, especially that power play one from L. Stankoven, that's what'll keep ya up at night. You try to wash it down with a Yuengling and a Primanti's sandwich, but that taste of defeat just lingers, like the smell of burning coal on a cold morning.
This loss means we're still sitting second in the Metro, but our last ten games at 4-3-3 ain't exactly setting the world on fire. Every point matters right now, and letting that extra one slip away to the Carolina Hurricanes in overtime hurts. We gotta tighten things up, especially on the road, if we wanna keep our spot. Yinz can feel the tension building up around dahntahn, like a steel beam under too much stress.
