Your Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage injury really hits different here
Whaddya at, b'y — this is St. John's, oldest city in North America, and we're still here. Let's go.
So you got da Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage on da injured list, a young fella with a shoulder issue, eh? Now, I'll tell ya one thing, b'y, when I hear about a promising young player getting sidelined, my mind goes straight back to da St. John's IceCaps. We had some fine talent come through here, some real future NHLers, and den poof! Gone. You see da same thing wit our young people, too. Dey get a great education up at MUN, show so much promise, and den where do dey go? Straight to Fort Mac, or dat Calgary, 'cause dere's no jobs here, b'y. It's like da province is on da injured list itself, drained of its best and brightest.
And speakin' of hockey, you know da St. John's Caps down here just had a whole team's worth of gear go missing on a trip to Nova Scotia. Imagine dat, showin' up to play and half your team's got no skates! Luckily, some good folks in Cole Harbour stepped up and donated gear, bless their hearts. But it just shows you, we're always lookin' after each other here, always findin' a way to make it work, even when da big league, or da big province, sometimes forgets about us. We might not have da bright lights of Toronto, but we got heart, and we got community, and dat's worth more dan any big contract, b'y.
Dat new Morning Wire crew really dug into dis one, you should hear 'em. Get da full story over at mornings.live.
