Winnipeg Jets Game Recap: NSH 4, WPG 3

You just gotta feel awful for our Winnipeg Jets, eh? Losing 4-3 to the Nashville Predators in a shootout last night? Ugh. We fought back so hard, fer sher. Morrissey tied it up in the first period, after they got one on the power play, and then Gabriel Vilardi gave us the lead in the second. That’s a good sign, eh? Toews tying it late, with under a minute left, that felt like pure magic. But then it’s just… gone. You just knew it was gonna be a tough one after last week's game, too. Feels like we can’t catch a break against them, especially in overtime.

Kyle Connor had a heck of a night with three assists, looking real good out there, and Mark Scheifele set up that crucial late goal, too. You see the shots, though? 23 to their 39? Our boys were working hard, especially against a team that always seems to have our number. It’s frustrating, watching us battle back, get those big goals, and then just… lose it in the shootout. I mean, we needed those points, eh? Every single one. It’s gut-wrenching, especially after seeing the team fight like that right to the end, just like a true prairie comeback story.

We’re sitting at 28-28-11 now, 6th in the Central, and holding onto that Wildcard #6 spot, barely. It’s getting tight, and these losses in OT or shootouts sting a little extra, because that extra point could mean everything down the stretch. We need to start converting these close games into wins, especially with Minnesota right on our heels. The mood at The Forks this morning is gonna be a little sombre, I think. We’ve got to shake this off and get ready for the next one, because every game from here on out is playoff hockey, you know?
